Why choose an Independent Broker rather than going through a brokerage?

The primary advantage is the cost of the service. A brokerage receives approximately $19.46 per 15 minute unit. ($77.84 per hour). Since we work for either the Agency with Choice or for the Common Law Employer, the cost to your waiver is much less. Even if the employer chooses to pay the broker the maximum ODP allowable rate, it would still be less than half of what a brokerage charges.

This is especially important for those with Community Living Waivers as the cost comes out of the waiver budget and that budget is capped.
